Rakadishu</b>: Vernon floated around his section of the factory - a scrap heap, where most of the runoff from ore smelting used to be dumped, along with debris and junk to be sorted later. He liked it as it was, because it all left a lot of hiding places for him, and he was free to move things as he saw fit. He left it nice and chaotic, the better to spook the little ones who wandered into his place. At the moment, though, he simply relaxed, hidden away in one of the piles. No one had come by for some time, and he was just waiting for his next victim.

RadMadisaur</b>: "Nooo, no, how did I get so turned around...?" Isabella fretted, squinting, knowing she was no longer at Nest of Seances Ranch. She had been playing a little game of tag with her dad, Faulkner, earlier, and she guessed she had gone...a little too far. Okay, maybe a lot too far, judging by the unfamiliarity of the place.

Maybe if I found the ranch owner, he or she could call Elle and she could come pick me up!
It was worth a shot, anyways.

"What's over here?" The Zubat/Gastly mumbled, noticing a large building with white clouds billowing from smokestacks. "Buildings mean people...maybe the ranch owner is in here?"

She flapped into the building, curiously looking around. Even though her eyesight was terrible, it appeared to be...some kinda factory?

"Kinda...dirty," She noticed, yet continued to flap away, searching for any signs of humans.

Rakadishu</b>: A small noise echoed through the factory, and Vernon twitched, turning to try and listen better. It seemed to have vanished, but he remembered the direction, and he quietly floated over towards one of the entrances. A small Zubat/Gastly came into his sight, and his eyes widened slightly, as he dropped quickly and silently behind a trash heap, peeking around it to watch. She didn't seem like she belonged to the factory... their trainer normally gave the new ones a tour... which meant this was a stranger, a visitor to the ranch! Vernon smiled mischievously, and quietly floated through one of the many short cuts he'd carefully dug out in the scrap heap for just such an occasion. Underneath the scrap, he could see through tiny tunnels to the surface, and he pinged a metal bar, causing garbage to slide from a shelf, blocking off the little visitor's path. Her choice now would be to either give up, or continue further into the scrap heap. He watched eagerly for her decision.

RadMadisaur</b>: "Eek!" Isabella cried as a pile of trash tumbled in front of her path. She flinched back, then sighed in relief as she realized she was perfectly safe. "Geez, this place is kinda dangerous..."

After a moment of contemplating, the Zubat cross decided to fly over the pile of debris, looking around for any signs of pokemon or humans to help her out.

"Hellooooo, can anyone help me out?"

Rakadishu</b>: Vernon resisted a chuckle, watching the little visitor flinch away. As long as she was only scared and unharmed, he felt he'd enjoy this. He slipped through other tunnels, watching carefully as the Zubat cross flew over the debris. She was coming up to another one of his tricks.

With a grin, he moved to a small mouthpiece in the tunnel, and spoke into it. His voice echoed until it was deep and ominous. "Out? Why would you want to be helped out, the fun has just begun!" He pushed another pipe, and the debris surged, rearing up as if something was moving beneath it, before settling down again. Vernon let a deep chuckle through the mouthpiece. "You've wandered into a strange place, little one..."

RadMadisaur</b>: "Wah!" The little silver bat shrieked again, flying back at the sudden loud voice booming from somewhere down below her. "This isn't so fun, like you say..." She huffed before squeaking once again as the trash moved. "C-come out and show yourself, you bully!"

Rakadishu</b>: "Impressive, confronting a bully... very brave of you. But I can't simply show myself, where's the fun in that? No, no, I've gone through all this trouble, I can't just let it go to waste!" He floated through his tunnels, smiling softly. He was right, this was fun. "Now, let's see..." He pushed another metal bar, and there was a loud rattling, as a scarecrow designed to look like a dusknoir popped out of the ground, waving its trash-stuffed arms.

RadMadisaur</b>: Isabella really was nervous here: if it came to a fight, she didn't really have the muscle to back herself up...

But it seemed as if the attacker wasn't 'mon enough to come out and show himself. Thinking back to what Mr. Cromwell had said about battle strategies, she realized he was using the terrain to his advantage. Mr. Cromwell had said those sorts of pokemon weren't the strongest with brute force, but rather were very clever and always had tricks up their sleeves.

As the fake Dusknoir popped up out of the garbage, the little bat shrieked again and found herself giving a mighty flap of her wings towards the unknown foe. She whipped up an air slash, ripping the trash scarecrow to shreds.

"H-huh?" Izzy breathed, surprised with her own power. "O-oh no, did I hurt someone?"

She found herself about to cry at the thought before she realized that the Dusknoir had been fake all along.

Indignant, she began flapping her wings again and sent out a bout of air slashes at the trash heap below.

"That! Wasn't! Very! Nice!" She shrieked with each blow. "I thought I had hurt somebody!"

Rakadishu</b>: Vernon watched the Dusknoir getting torn up by the air slash, and smiled softly, before moving through the tunnels again. "No, don't worry, I like to ensure that no one is actually hurt here... but ah, that ruins the fear, doesn't it? Oh well, I suppose I should stop anyways... aren't you glad it wasn't a real pokemon, though? Now you know how you'd react, and either you're confident in your strength, or... as the case more likely is, you know to avoid using such an attack quite so easily."

He hunted a bit longer, before finding what he was looking for: not another pipe, but an actual switch. He flipped it, and the lights in the room above flickered on. Not all of them worked, but together, they provided enough light to make the scrap heap quite a bit less of a creepy place. "Now... perhaps you're willing to spend your time another way? You seem to have a bit of anger to burn off... granted, I admit it's my fault, but perhaps I can help you work it off as well. I actually wouldn't mind showing off to someone." He grabbed another pole, pushing it to make a wooden board, carved in the shape of a chandelure, rise up. In the light, it was much easier to tell it wasn't at all real, and actually looked a little silly. "I have plenty of these, some even rigged up to move! If you haven't lost your taste entirely for this place, we could have some fun with target practice, if you'd like? A nice, safe way for you to train, hm?"

RadMadisaur</b>: Isabella calmed down when she was able to see everything a bit more clearly. Not that her sight was all that great to begin with...

She was confused with the mystery prankster's new tone. He seemed to think she had some sort of battle ability?

The Zubat/Gastly teetered back and forth in midair a bit, sheepish now that she wasn't as angry.

"O-oh, well, um...I'm not much of a battler! I just got upset, is all. I don't know if I'd be all that good at it, really..."

Rakadishu</b>: Vernon was silent for a moment, then hummed softly. "Well, I suppose it's important to clarify... do you specifically dislike battling, or are you just not experienced with it? Because if you'd actually specifically want to NOT battle, I won't force you into training. My time spent pushing you around is over now. HOWEVER, if it's more you're just not sure how good you'd be..."

He wiggled a lever, making one of the wooden figures wave from side to side. "I'd say this is the chance for you to GET good at it, hm? I think you have the ability to be a fantastic battler, you simply need to try!"

RadMadisaur</b>: Isabella blushed in delight at the compliment, then giggled.

"Nooo, no, I'm not a pacifist or anything. It's just that I'm more cutesy than a force to be reckoned with, y'know?"

Looking at the moving target, she nodded with determination.

"I guess...if you think I could get good, I'll try it!"

The little zubat cross flapped her wings, sending out a small air slash. It missed, just barely, and she sighed in discontent.

"Guess I gotta work on my aim...hey, um...mister?" The little cross spoke up, looking around the room. "I still haven't seen your face yet...and that makes me feel a little weird. You wanna maybe come out and introduce yourself?"

Rakadishu</b>: Vernon shrugged. "Yes, I've noticed the cutesy-ness, but you can be cute and a force to be reckoned with at the same time, can't you?"

He watched as she missed her attack, and shook his head softly. "Well, that's what the training is for in the first place, isn't it? It's hard to have perfect aim in the beginning."

When she asked him to come out, he paused, remaining silent for a good while before letting out a sigh. "I suppose, after all you've been put through, I owe you that much, don't I?" He started to float through the tunnels, brushing against levers and switches as he considered. "Well... okay, but I'm warning you now! I'm not exactly the most pleasant-looking of pokemon."

With that - and not quite noting the effects of the levers he'd brushed up against - Vernon floated up through one of the tunnels, and popped out onto the top of the trash heap, floating just over the surface. He waved his hands, displaying his trubbish/koffing/grimer nature. "Here I am, then. For the record, my name is Vernon, you don't need to call me mister."

RadMadisaur</b>: Isabella tipped her head in wonder as she finally saw the face of the prankster, then smiled.

"Heeey, you're a poison cross, like me!" She announced happily, flapping over to him. The Zubat cross nodded as he said his name. "Vernon...okay. I'm Isabella, but lots of 'mons just call me Izzy."

With a frown, she gave him a light smack on the head with one of her wings before giggling.

"Aaand that's for messing with me."

A rumble came from the pile of trash, making Isabella flap back in fear.

"Wh-what's that noise? You're not doing something else, are you?"

Rakadishu: Vernon was a bit surprised by Isabella's reaction. He'd been expecting fear or a bit of distaste in hre expression, but instead, she seemed perfectly comfortable, even weirdly happy to see him. He blinked. "Oh, hum... well, yes. All three pollution pokemon..."

After a second, he smiled softly. "Isabella, or Izzy. I may stick with the more casual one, if that works for you." He chuckled softly as she smacked his head, rubbing the spot her wing had hit. "Alright, I supposed I deserved that..."

As the rumble came, Vernon glanced around. "Hm? Oh, uh... no, I wasn't planning to..." He turned, just in time to see a wave of the garbage rising up and over them. "Ooh, watch out!" He turned and pushed Isabella, floating over her just before the garbage came crashing down.

RadMadisaur</b>: The Zubat cross winced under her protector, emitting another fearful shriek until the rumbling stopped.

She gasped, shaking a few pieces of crumpled paper off of her head.

"A-are you all right?" After a pause of realization, she breathed, "You protected me...thank you very much."

Rakadishu</b>: After the last rumble of the garbage faded away, Vernon took a deep breath. "Er... no problem, Isabella. Seems it's my fault this happened at all, so it was the least I could do."

He smiled down at her, then paused, frowning curiously. "Did you get... smaller?" He looked at himself, and his eyes widened. "Oh... I evolved, I think." He clearly had, almost towering over Isabella now. "Well, it was about time, hm?" He grinned, and straightened up, pushing the garbage away and clearing a way for them to get out. He floated up out of the hole in the mountain of trash, then settled onto the surface and stretched his fingered limb down, offering Isabella a hand up.

"I suppose NOW I'm properly hideous, but ah well, I'm in my element, aren't I?"

RadMadisaur</b>: Isabella found herself speechless, feeling quite small now in front of the gargantuan garbage pokemon. She flapped in silence for a few moments, staring at him for a moment in awe, before smiling again.

"Woooow, you're so big now! I probably won't get nearly as big when I evolve!" She tittered before fluttering up to rest on his head. "Thanks for the help, but I got it."

From on top of the mountain, the Zubat cross squinted. She could see the entire factory from up here! It was dirty and not very well kept-up with, but...Vernon still called it home. She frowned. Maybe that was one of the reasons he felt bad about himself?

"Noooo, you're not hideous," She pouted before admitting with a cheeky grin, "Um, I mean but you are smelly, but...well, you can't help that one. But seriously, it's not that bad! Are you like...ashamed of being a poison type or something? I'm a gastly and a zubat all mixed together, so..." She shrugged her wings from up on her perch, his head. "I'm surrounded by all these weird glowing gross fumes, I guess. Plus I'm pretty sure I got some nasty poison bites and slashes and all that, if I really worked hard on my battle skills."

She teetered over on the tip of his head, leaning down to meet his eye.

"Would you feel better if we, um...cleaned this place up a little?"

Rakadishu</b>: Vernon smiled a bit vainly. "Yes, i am quite large, hm? Not the biggest pokemon around, but still a nice, healthy size." He rubbed his chin, looking at her. "I don't know, I've heard crobats are surprisingly large, though it might still be a struggle to beat MY size."

As Izzy looked around, Vernon did the same. It was difficult to tell anything had happened here at all, considering the state of the mess. As Isabella spoke, though, he raised his eyebrows and looked back at her.

"Oh, no, I didn't mean it quite like that. I'm perfectly happy as I look! Maybe not as regal as some, but unique, at least." He chuckled. "And I don't mind being a poison type, either! Lends to my charm, hm?" He looked up at the smaller pokemon once again. "Gross fumes? No, no, it's all in perspective, Isabella. Personally, I quite like them, myself. Sure, others may not agree, but if they can't handle it, they'll just have to do without your company. Their loss, I'd say." He slowly floated up into the ground, and looked around once more, before meeting her eye.

"Hm... maybe you have a point... the setting is a bit too chaotic, isn't it? Perhaps cleaning it all up WOULD be a good idea, or at least organizing things a bit more. Ah, but I couldn't ask you to do that, you've suffered enough already! If you'd like, you can sit where you are, and I'll take care of some of the cleaning. I don't mind the conversation."

RadMadisaur</b>: "Mmm, that's true. It'll be a pretty big change, then, when it happens, I think..." She mused before nodding with a smile. "Mmmhm, okay. Sorry, I was reading what you were saying wrong for a second, I guess."

Isabella shook her head, flapping over to an old pokedoll with the stuffing coming out of it, and attemped to pick it up.

"I don't really mind!" The little bat pokemon squeaked, nosing the old toy over to the corner, as she really didn't have any arms to help out with the process.

Rakadishu</b>: He nodded. "Of course, I do appreciate the sentiment, Isabella. That's very kind of you, especially after everything I've put you through." He smiled at her, then watched as she flapped over to try and start moving the toy.

After a few seconds, he shook himself back into focusing, and turned to start scooping up bits of trash and broken things as well with his pipe arm, before sorting through it with the fingered one. "Oh, erm, Isabella... if there's anything around here you wish to keep as your own, simply ask. There's plenty here, and you may find something you like more than I do."

RadMadisaur</b>: "I mean, maybe I'm not doing it for you. Maybe I'm doing it just because I like cleaning," Isabella shot back, but her giggle gave away her true intent. "I already smacked you, anyways, so we're even, remember?"

She nodded, sweeping a few more things into a pile.

"I'll keep that in mind! Thanks."

Rakadishu: Vernon smiled, sorting the garbage into piles. "Well... maybe you are, hm? With me, there'll always be something to clean, though, so I suppose that works out for you, doesn't it?" He chuckled softly, and continued to work on cleaning up the garbage.

The two worked for a good while, an actually made quite a bit of progress. After a few hours, there was still plenty of garbage, but a good amount of it had been sorted and cleared up, ready to be processed later. Vernon finally gave a sigh of exhaustion, and settled down to sit in the garbage. "Ah... Isabella, may be time to stop for now. Lots of progress made, but there's no way this can be done in one job..." He hesitated for a second. "Which, I suppose... means if you are still willing to help, you would have to come by, for a few more visits?"

RadMadisaur: Isabella smiled and nodded as she looked up to face her surprising new friend.

"Yes, yes! I would like that."
